Black-breasted Buttonquail
Black-breasted Buttonquail (Turnix melanogaster) is a medium 17–19 cm, striking buttonquail endemic to eastern Australia. Female has bold black face, throat and breast with white spotting; male duller. Inhabits dry vine thickets and rainforest edges in Queensland and northern New South Wales.
Yellow-legged Buttonquail
Yellow-legged Buttonquail (Turnix tanki) is a small 15–17 cm buttonquail of South and South-East Asia. Sandy-buff with rufous streaking above; yellow legs. Female larger and brighter than male (sex-role reversal). Inhabits open grassland, scrub, and cultivation from Pakistan east to China and Indonesia.
