イベリア半島・中東・中央アジアの乾燥した草原・砂漠に生息するサケイ（体長28〜33cm）。緑・橙・白の複雑な羽模様と長い中央尾羽が特徴的。Pterocles alchata（ピンクベリードサンドグラウス）は水を求めて毎朝数十kmを飛ぶことで知られ、胸羽に水を吸わせてヒナに運ぶ独特の育雛行動がある。Pteroclidae科。
