Marquesan Swamphen (Porphyrio paepae) is an extinct flightless swamphen known only from subfossil bones from the Marquesas Islands, French Polynesia. Ruddy-breasted Crake (Zapornia fusca) is a small 19–23 cm crake of South and East Asia. Rich rufous-chestnut underparts; dark brown upperparts; red bill and legs. Breeds from Pakistan east through China, Japan, and Indonesia; partially migratory. Inhabits dense freshwater marshes, rice paddies, and reed beds.
