About These Birds
Enggano Cuckoo-Dove
Slender cuckoo-dove, 32–35 cm, uniform warm cinnamon-rufous with minimal barring and a relatively short tail. Restricted to Enggano Island off the southwestern coast of Sumatra. Inhabits dense lowland forest. Frugivore. Vulnerable due to extremely small range and ongoing forest loss on the island.

インド洋ロドリゲス島に生息していたが18世紀に絶滅した飛べない鳥で、モーリシャスのドードーの近縁種。雄は大型で、雌は小型だった。入植者による乱獲と導入動物が絶滅原因。
