Asian Crested Ibis

55–77 cm. White overall; bare red facial skin; long drooping nape plumes; pinkish wash in breeding. Endangered; reduced to near-extinction by 1981 (7 individuals in Japan) but recovered through captive breeding to thousands. Resident Japan, China, Korea; feeds on fish and crustaceans in rice paddies.

African Spoonbill

The African Spoonbill is a large wading bird of the Threskiornithidae family, with an impressive wingspan of about 77 cm and a weight of around 1,460 g. It sweeps its distinctive spatula-shaped bill side to side through shallow water to filter out fish, crustaceans, and aquatic invertebrates.
