Black-capped Piprites

The Black-capped Piprites is a Near Threatened, peculiar small bird of the Atlantic Forest in southeastern Brazil and adjacent Argentina, with a distinctive black cap, whitish eye ring, and olive-green plumage. It inhabits the canopy and mid-story of araucaria and mixed forests. Ongoing deforestation of the Atlantic Forest threatens this species, which has a restricted range and specialized habitat requirements.
