ヨーロッパ・中央アジアの建物、崖、木の洞に生息するカラス(体長30〜34cm)。黒い体に灰色の後頭部と淡い青い目が特徴。Corvus monedula(ニシコクマルガラス)は最小のカラスの一つで、高い知能を持ち、「自分の映像を鏡で認識できる」数少ない鳥の一つ。ヨーロッパの古い建物の屋根裏や崖に集団で営巣する。Corvidae科。
