ヨーロッパ・アジアの森林・農地に広く分布するツグミ(体長26〜29cm)。灰褐色の体と大きな黒い斑点のある下面が特徴で、ヤドリギの実を好食することが名前の由来。Turdus viscivorus(ヤドリギツグミ)はツグミ類最大で、荒天の中でも歌い続けることから「嵐のつぐみ」の異名がある。Turdidae科。
