メガネウミスズメ、36〜38 cm。カムチャツカから日本にかけての西北太平洋の岩礁海岸・断崖で繁殖。煤黒色で目の周りに白い眼鏡状の斑;赤い足。海岸部に通年生息;魚食性。
Thick-billed Murre
Thick-billed Murre (Brünnich's Guillemot), 39–43 cm, breeds in enormous cliff colonies across the Arctic from Newfoundland to Siberia. Thicker, shorter bill with white gape line. Dives to 200+ m — deepest diver among alcids. Piscivore; takes capelin, cod. Vulnerable to climate change in the High Arctic.
