バーチェルズ・カッコウ (Centropus burchellii) — 37〜42 cm。栗色の背；黒い頭部と尾；白い下面；白い眉斑。南部アフリカの丈高い草地・林縁・庭園に生息。非托卵性；密な草地に大型ドーム状巣を作る。雑食性；鳴き声が雨天と結び付けられ「雨鳥」とも呼ばれる。

Non-parasitic; carnivorous; eats insects and small vertebrates. Shares the same terrestrial running lifestyle as its northern relative.
