Archbold's Newtonia is a small vangid from southwestern Madagascar, weighing about 8 grams with a wingspan of just 9 cm. It inhabits the spiny forest thicket of the arid southern region, foraging actively for insects in the low thorny vegetation. This tiny bird is one of several Newtonia species endemic to Madagascar's unique dry forests.
