ボルネオの山地固有の中型のガマグチヨタカ（23〜25cm）。暗褐色の羽毛を持つ。山地苔むした林の夜行性昆虫食者。ホースフィールドガマグチヨタカから最近分離独立。生態データが限られており、標高600m以上に限定される。
