マレー半島・スマトラ・ボルネオの低地原生熱帯雨林に生息する中型のガマグチヨタカ（21〜25cm）。星を思わせる白い斑点で飾られた豊かな褐色の羽毛。夜行性の昆虫食者。低地の継続的な森林破壊により準絶滅危惧に分類。
