メキシコのバハ・カリフォルニア・スール州南端固有の中型ハチドリ（9〜10cm）。緑色の羽毛に赤褐色の胸と白い眼帯を持つ。乾燥した低木地とトゲのある林の蜜食者。ハンガリーの博物学者ジョン・ザンタスにちなんで命名されたバハ・カリフォルニア固有種。
