北米東部で繁殖し南部で越冬するスズメ（体長16〜19cm）。白・黄の眉斑と白い喉が特徴的で、黒・白の縞模様のある頭部が識別点。Zonotrichia albicollis（ホオジロスズメ）は「オールド・サム・ピーボディ、ピーボディ、ピーボディ」と聞こえる特徴的な鳴き声で知られ、庭の餌台で最もよく見られる鳥の一つ。Passerellidae科。
