ヨーロッパから中央アジアにかけての湿地で繁殖し、アフリカで越冬するアジサシ（体長22〜24cm）。繁殖期は黒い体に灰色の翼、冬羽は白・灰色。Chlidonias niger（クロハラアジサシ）は開けた水面をゆっくり飛びながら水面の昆虫を捕まえる優雅な採食行動が特徴。Laridae科。
