ユーラシア大陸全域に広く分布する小〜中型のタカ（体長28〜38cm）。主に小型の鳥類を捕食し、農地から森林まで幅広い環境に生息する。雄は上面が青灰色、下面にオレンジ色の横縞。Accipiter nisus（ハイタカ）はヨーロッパで最もよく見られる猛禽類の一つで、特に渡りの季節に大きな群れを形成することがある。Accipitridae科。

The Black-faced Hawk is a small, compact raptor with white plumage, black-tipped wings and tail, and a distinctive black mask across the face. It inhabits humid lowland tropical forests of Amazonia, occurring in Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and adjacent countries. It hunts reptiles, frogs, large insects, and small mammals in forest interior and along rivers.
