ヨーロッパ、アフリカ、アジアの山岳地帯に生息する大型のハゲワシ（翼開長230〜280cm）。赤みがかった橙色の胸と黒いひげ状の羽毛が特徴。Gypaetus barbatus（ヒゲワシ）は他のハゲワシが残した骨を高空から岩に落として割り、骨髄を食べる独特の採食方法を持つ。IUCNで準絶滅危惧種に指定されている。Accipitridae科。
