メキシコからアルゼンチンにかけての熱帯・亜熱帯林に広く分布する中型のタカ（体長35〜46cm）。主に小型の鳥類や哺乳類を捕食し、密林内を素早く飛び回る。上面は灰褐色、下面は淡い灰色または赤褐色。Accipiter bicolor（バイカラードホーク）は南米で最も一般的なタカの一つ。Accipitridae科。

ハクトウワシ

ハクトウワシはアメリカ合衆国の国鳥で国の象徴である。DDT農薬使用により一度は絶滅の危機に瀕したが、見事な回復を遂げ、2007年に絶滅危惧種リストから外された。これらの力強い猛禽類は、2トンを超えるものもある鳥類最大の木の巣を作る。
