ほぼ世界中の水辺に生息するミサゴ(体長55〜58cm、翼開長145〜170cm)。白い下面と黒い斑点のある胸帯、黒い目の帯が特徴。Pandion haliaetus(ミサゴ)は水面上でホバリングし、魚に向かって足から急降下する高度な採食技術を持つ唯一の「魚食専門」猛禽。水中に没した後も魚をしっかり保持する後向きの逆鱗爪が特徴的。Pandionidae科。
