Slender cuckoo-dove, 32–36 cm, rufous-brown with finely barred upperparts and a long, graduated tail. Confined to the Batu Islands (North Pagai, South Pagai, Siberut, and Sipora) off the coast of West Sumatra. Inhabits forest. Frugivore of small fruits. Near Threatened due to forest clearance.

Soft, gentle cooing; pure warm notes typical of South Asian dry open woodland. Vocalization pattern typical of this species in its native habitat.
