ヨーロッパから中央アジアにかけて分布するカラス(体長44〜46cm)。光沢のある黒い羽毛と裸の白い嘴基部が特徴(成鳥)。Corvus frugilegus(ミヤマガラス)は木の上に大きなコロニーを作って繁殖する社会性の高いカラスで、農地を歩いてミミズや穀物を食べる。日本にも冬季に渡来する。Corvidae科。
