北米全域に分布するチドリ（体長23〜26cm）。白・黒の模様に2本の胸帯が特徴的で、大きな声で「キルディー、キルディー」と鳴くことが名前の由来。Charadrius vociferus（キルディア）は農地や草地など開けた環境を好み、傷を負ったふりをする擬傷行動で捕食者を巣から遠ざける。Charadriidae科。
