Buff-rumped Thornbill

The Buff-rumped Thornbill (<em>Acanthiza reguloides</em>) is a small passerine in the family Acanthizidae, native to southeastern Australia. Detailed plumage and behavioral descriptions of this species are limited in the available literature. It is typically associated with forest habitats, often occupying dry woodland and open eucalypt forest. The species constructs a domed nest (DM type); clutch size ranges from 2 to 5 eggs, with incubation lasting 16–21 days and fledging at 16–19 days. The Buff-rumped Thornbill is assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN. Research indicates it often forages on or near the ground, gleaning insects from leaf litter and low vegetation in woodland environments of southeastern Australia.
