About These Birds

Black-capped Social-Weaver

The Black-capped Social-Weaver is a small, colonial sparrow-like bird of East African dry thorn scrub and acacia savanna, with a distinctive black cap contrasting with pale brown plumage. It ranges in arid areas of Kenya, Tanzania, and southern Ethiopia, building large communal stick nests in trees that may be occupied year-round. It feeds on grass seeds and small insects.
