About These Birds

Australian Pelican

The Australian Pelican is one of the world's largest flying birds, found on inland and coastal waters throughout Australia and New Guinea. Weighing about 5,400g with an enormous wingspan of 120.3cm, it has white plumage with black flight feathers and a massive pink bill pouch. It hunts fish cooperatively, using its distensible pouch to scoop prey from the water.
