About These Birds

Indian Peafowl

The Indian peafowl is the national bird of India and one of the most spectacular birds in the world. The peacock's enormous train, which can span over two meters, is used in elaborate courtship displays where the feathers are fanned and vibrated. Despite their size, peafowl can fly short distances and roost in tall trees.

Snow Partridge

A medium-sized partridge (~580 g) of family Phasianidae, with intricately barred black-and-white plumage and red bill and legs. Inhabits alpine and subalpine rocky slopes and meadows across the Himalayas and adjacent ranges at 3,000–5,000 m elevation. Forages for grass seeds, shoots, and insects. Least Concern; one of the highest-altitude dwelling partridges; well adapted to extreme cold and snow.
