About These Birds

Small dove, 18–21 cm; male is pale blue-grey with dark wing spots; female is warm brown with purple-chestnut wing bars. Inhabits forest edge, secondary growth, and thickets from Mexico to Bolivia and southeastern Brazil, with a preference for bamboo-seeding events. Granivore of bamboo seeds. Nomadic following bamboo flowering cycles. Least Concern.
