About These Birds
Brown-capped Emerald Dove
Small dove, 23–26 cm, with iridescent emerald-green upperparts, a brown crown (not grey), and a longer bill than the Grey-capped Emerald Dove. Ranges from the Andamans and Sundas through New Guinea to Australia and Pacific islands. Inhabits dense rainforest and monsoon forest. Granivore and frugivore on the forest floor. Least Concern.
Enggano Cuckoo-Dove
Slender cuckoo-dove, 32–35 cm, uniform warm cinnamon-rufous with minimal barring and a relatively short tail. Restricted to Enggano Island off the southwestern coast of Sumatra. Inhabits dense lowland forest. Frugivore. Vulnerable due to extremely small range and ongoing forest loss on the island.
