The rock pigeon is the ancestor of all domestic pigeon breeds and one of the most abundant birds in cities worldwide. Medium dove, 29–33 cm, brown with a pale grey head, two black neck collars (one partial, one full), and a pinkish breast. Native to the Lesser Sunda Islands, Philippines, and adjacent Indonesian islands. Inhabits open forest, scrub, and agricultural land. Granivore of seeds and grains. Often domesticated across its range. Least Concern.
