Marquesan Swamphen (Porphyrio paepae) is an extinct flightless swamphen known only from subfossil bones from the Marquesas Islands, French Polynesia. Breeds from India east to the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia; partially migratory. Inhabits damp forest floor, forest-edge marshes, and scrub near streams.
