Black-billed Woodhoopoe

The Black-billed Woodhoopoe is a slender, long-tailed bird of East African dry woodland and scrub, with glossy greenish-black plumage, a white-tipped long tail, and a short curved black bill. It ranges in the arid and semi-arid zones of the Horn of Africa from Somalia and Ethiopia to northern Kenya. It feeds on insects and larvae extracted from bark and rotting wood with its probing bill.

The Abyssinian Scimitarbill is a small bird weighing about 26g found in dry woodland and savanna of eastern Africa. It uses its decurved bill to probe bark and crevices for insects.
