Large, conspicuous pigeon, 33–38 cm, pale grey-brown with white-edged wing feathers forming a scaled pattern and a red orbital ring. One of South America's commonest pigeons, widespread in open woodlands, cerrado, and agricultural land from Brazil to Argentina. Granivore of seeds and grains. Least Concern.
