About These Birds

Palau Ground Dove

Small ground dove, 20–23 cm, with brown upperparts, a pale grey or whitish forehead and face, and buff-white underparts. Endemic to Palau in Micronesia, inhabiting dense forest and thickets. Terrestrial frugivore and granivore. Vulnerable due to the small island range and introduced predators.

Adamawa Turtle-dove

Medium dove, 27–30 cm, with warm rufous-brown upperparts, a black neck collar, and a deep orange-red breast. Endemic to the highland plateaus and montane grasslands of northern Nigeria and Cameroon. Granivore of grass seeds and cultivated grains. Poorly studied and localised range. Least Concern.
