About These Birds

Ashy Storm-petrel

Ashy Storm-petrel, 19–21 cm, is restricted to the California Current of the eastern Pacific; breeding on Channel Islands and the Farallon Islands. Guadalupe Storm-petrel

Guadalupe Storm-petrel, 22–23 cm, is Critically Endangered — possibly extinct; no confirmed sightings since the 1930s when cats eliminated the colony on Guadalupe Island. Large, all-dark storm-petrel very similar to Black Storm-petrel. Status uncertain; intensive searches have not relocated any individuals.
