About These Birds
Bahia Tapaculo
The Bahia Tapaculo is an Endangered tapaculo found in humid Atlantic Forest remnants in Bahia, Brazil, weighing about 17.75g with a wingspan of 10.5cm. Like other tapaculos it is shy and secretive, staying hidden in dense ground-level vegetation. Ongoing deforestation of the Atlantic Forest has fragmented and reduced its already small range.
Ash-colored Tapaculo
The Ash-colored Tapaculo is a secretive passerine of the family Rhinocryptidae found in Andean cloud forests of Colombia and Ecuador. Weighing around 21.5g with a wingspan of about 11.4cm, it is uniformly grey in plumage. Like other tapaculos, it stays hidden in dense undergrowth and is more often heard than seen.
