Breeds on rocky riverbeds of China, Korea, and Japan; winters along rivers and coasts of Southeast Asia. Invertebrate feeder. Killdeer

Inhabits open ground including fields, golf courses, parking lots, and gravel rooftops—far from water. Year-round in southern USA; migratory northward.
