The Black Cuckooshrike is a medium-sized, slender bird of sub-Saharan African woodlands and forests, with males displaying entirely glossy black plumage and a small yellow gape wattle. It ranges across tropical Africa from Senegal east to Ethiopia and south to South Africa, inhabiting open woodland, savanna, and forest edges.
