About These Birds

Brazilian Teal

A small compact teal with brown plumage, red bill and legs, and males with a distinctive powder-blue speculum. Common in tropical lowland South America. One of the most widespread ducks in Brazil. Found in a wide range of wetland types from flooded forest to open lakes.

Black Swan

The black swan was once considered impossible by Europeans who believed all swans were white, making it a famous philosophical example of inductive reasoning failure. It is the state emblem of Western Australia. Black swans form lifelong pair bonds and both parents share in incubation and care of cygnets.
