A medium-sized bustard (50-55 cm) found in open grasslands and Karoo of southern Africa from South Africa to Namibia. Males have black underparts and white wing patches. Omnivore. Broader range than Southern Black Bustard. Often seen performing aerial display flights.

Lesser Florican

A small bustard (45-51 cm) found in grasslands of the Indian subcontinent. Males in breeding plumage have a black head and neck with an elongated nuchal crest. Critically Endangered due to severe grassland habitat loss. Males perform spectacular leaping display flights.
