Madagascar Jacana: 24–28 cm, Madagascar endemic similar to African Jacana but with a distinctive white hindneck and slightly paler blue frontal shield. Inhabits freshwater lakes and ponds with floating vegetation. Sedentary endemic. Polyandrous breeding system. Feeds on invertebrates and seeds. NT due to wetland drainage and hunting.

Comb-crested Jacana: 19–22 cm, Australasian jacana with a distinctive fleshy pink-red comb on the forehead, black-and-white plumage, and enormously long toes. Inhabits freshwater wetlands with water-lilies across northern Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines. Walks on floating plants. Polyandrous. Invertebrate and plant feeder.
