Inhabits high-altitude coniferous and mixed forests in the mountains of southwestern China, including Sichuan and Yunnan, at 2,700–4,200 m. Forages for berries, seeds, and invertebrates. Least Concern; resident of remote high-altitude forests with limited human disturbance.
