About These Birds

Restricted to high-altitude moorland and montane grassland above 1,800 m in Ethiopia. Insectivorous. Sedentary; rare and little-studied. Declining due to overgrazing and agricultural encroachment.

Breeds across North Africa and the Middle East; also resident in sub-Saharan Africa. Inhabits sandy riverbanks, lake margins, and irrigated farmland. Insectivorous. Partial migrant in northern populations.
