Medium dove, 28–32 cm, brown with a distinctive black-and-white speckled neck patch, pinkish-buff breast, and long graduated tail. Native to South and Southeast Asia; introduced widely to Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, and North America. Inhabits open woodland, urban parks, and farmland. Granivore of seeds and small grains.
