Chestnut Forest Rail (Rallicula rubra), 20 cm. Entirely warm chestnut-rufous; short tail and red bill. Endemic to New Guinea (mountains above 1,200 m). Inhabits dense undergrowth of montane forest. Omnivore. Least Concern; common in suitable montane habitat.

Slender-billed Flufftail (Sarothrura watersi), 14 cm. Very poorly known; brown with a thin bill adapted for probing. Endemic to eastern Madagascar, recorded from a handful of wetland localities. Omnivore. Endangered; extremely rarely recorded; habitat loss continues.
