The Black-breasted Puffbird is a stocky, large-headed bird of humid lowland forests in Panama and western Colombia, with bold black-and-white patterning and a broad black breast band. It sits motionless on exposed branches for long periods, watching for large insects, lizards, and small frogs to drop onto from above. It excavates nest burrows in the ground or in termite mounds.
Barred Puffbird
The Barred Puffbird is a puffbird of the family Bucconidae found in humid forests and forest edges from Panama to northwestern South America. Weighing about 61g with a wingspan of 18.3cm, it has intricately barred rufous-and-black plumage. It perches motionless in the forest understory, sallying out to catch large insects.
