About These Birds

Enggano Cuckoo-Dove

Slender cuckoo-dove, 32–35 cm, uniform warm cinnamon-rufous with minimal barring and a relatively short tail. Restricted to Enggano Island off the southwestern coast of Sumatra. Inhabits dense lowland forest. Frugivore. Vulnerable due to extremely small range and ongoing forest loss on the island.

Bare-faced Ground Dove

Small dove, 17–19 cm, sandy-buff with a bold bare yellow-orange facial patch, dark wings, and pale underparts. Inhabits open Andean hillsides and high-altitude scrub from Peru to northern Chile and Argentina, often above 3,000 m. Granivore of seeds. One of the highest-altitude doves in the world. Least Concern.
