About These Birds

Bicolored Antvireo

The Bicolored Antvireo is a near-threatened small antbird restricted to foothill and lower montane forests of northwestern Ecuador and the southwest slope of Colombia. Males are grey and white and females are brown with buffy streaking. It forages in pairs in the forest midstory for insects gleaned from leaves and branches.

Black-backed Antshrike

The Black-backed Antshrike is a medium-sized antshrike of lowland forest and forest edges in northern South America, from Colombia to Trinidad. Males have a black back contrasting with barred black and white underparts, while females are rufous-brown. It forages in dense undergrowth for large insects and arthropods.
