Pink-footed Shearwater
48 cm, wingspan 109 cm. Large shearwater; brown above, white below with pink feet; dusky underwing border. Breeds Juan Fernandez and Mocha islands, Chile; migrates to North Pacific. Vulnerable; threatened by introduced predators and longline bycatch. Feeds on fish and squid.
Westland Petrel
51 cm. Large all-black petrel; pale yellowish bill with dark culmen. Breeds only in inland forests of Westland, South Island, New Zealand. Vulnerable; the only procellariid nesting in inland forest. Migrates to southern Pacific; feeds on squid and fish.
