Pallas's Sandgrouse (Syrrhaptes paradoxus) — 38–42 cm. Sandy-buff with black belly patch; long pin-tail feathers; feathered feet. Inhabits Central Asian steppe and desert from Kazakhstan to Mongolia and northern China. Irruptive migrant; periodically moves west to Europe in large numbers. Granivore; forms large flocks at waterholes.
